Legal
Terms of service
Neutral, terse terms that match the mission: lawful use for civil society, no false guarantees, and honest limits.
These terms govern your use of GuardTalk. They are written to be plain and to reflect what the product actually does. By using the service, you accept them.
Use of the service
GuardTalk is provided for lawful use, in service of a civil-society mission: protecting journalists, human-rights defenders, activists, NGOs, and the at-risk individuals around them. You agree to use the service in compliance with the laws that apply to you.
Acceptable use
GuardTalk is built for defence, not for crime, and is not marketed for criminal use. You agree not to use the service to harm others or to carry out activity that is unlawful where you are. We reserve the right to decline or end service consistent with this posture and the mission.
No claim of legal immunity
Using GuardTalk does not place you above the law and confers no legal immunity. It is a set of technical protections, not a legal shield, and it does not change your obligations under the law that applies to you.
No guarantee of untraceability or absolute security
We do not promise that you cannot be traced and we make no claim of absolute security. Every protection is bounded by our threat model, which states plainly what the system does and does not cover. Treat any source that promises the impossible with suspicion.
Ownership and payment
GuardTalk is ownership, not a subscription to surveillance. You buy the GuardTalk Mobile Protector from us, own the hardware, and hold the keys. Payment is made privately with Monero, and pricing funds development — never the sale of user data.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law, and with no promise of absolute security or uninterrupted operation. The named protections, their mechanisms, and their limits are described across this site and bounded by the threat model.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end service where required by law or to uphold the acceptable-use posture above. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.
